The 2nd largest French AOC wine area with 71,014 hectares under vine, the vineyards of the Rhône Valley form a corridor between the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The Rhône Valley extends over six French départements. The region is influenced by the river, the sun and the Mistral wind. Wine has been produced here for at least 2000 years and some of the most famous grape varieties originated and thrive here: Mourvèdre, Marsanne, Grenache, Syrah, Viognier.
