Van Biljon Wines

A long held admiration of the Bordeaux style wines of the Polkadraai Hills was the motivation for Anton and Julia Van Biljon to purchase their boutique wine farm, Tarentaal, just over 20 years ago. The couple immediately set about replanting the existing vineyards with classic Bordeaux grape varieties which they knew would thrive thanks to the south facing slopes, granite soil and the cooling sea breezes from nearby False Bay. The decision to bring in the expertise of acclaimed consultant winemaker Chris Keet has proved a winning formula and the 2013 CINQ, named after the 5 grapes that make up the blend, is a classic, powerful Bordeaux blend now in its 3rd year of production, picking up plaudits along the way. The 2013 was awarded 4 1⁄2 in the 2016 Platter Wine Guide and in his 2015 South Africa Special Report, Master of Wine and UK wine journalist, Tim Atkin declared Van Biljon ‘an estate to watch’ and awarded the CINQ 2012 93 points.
