The Ragnedda family have been land owners in Arzachena, in the northern region of Gallura, since the 1900s. The history of Capichera began over 40 years ago when the family planted the new Vermentino vines and built the cellar. The surrounding area is particularly favourable for growing Vermentino which is one of the most traditional white grape varieties in Sardinia. It is believed to have arrived from the Iberian peninsula in the 18th century and reached Gallura through Corsica, where it found its natural habitat. In 1981 the first Vermentino under the Capichera label was produced. Capichera produces rich and deeply complex wines which are considered to be among the best wines in Sardinia.
