The “Baroni Statti” started wine making in Calabria back in the 1700s. The winery today has approximately 100 hectares of vineyards and 300 hectares of olive groves. There is a strong emphasis on the indigenous Gaglioppo grape variety, which can trace its origins back to the times of Ancient Greece.
Alberto and Antonio Statti took over the long-established estate in 1990 and dedicated themselves to the production of high-quality wines which reflect the local terroir. Their aim was to put a modern slant on Calabria’s wine-making. Cattle breeding and fruit growing make this estate a true working farm, although the brother’s focus remains primarily on wine making. An ongoing programme of vineyard re-planting has allowed Statti to confirm its place as one of Calabria’s largest and pre-eminent premium wine producers. Statti has recently adopted the slogan 'Our wines: good today, better tomorrow!' to reflect this.
