Chateau Chaigneau

This 12-hectare estate dates back the beginning of the 20th century, which is quite old for the appellation. It was bought recently by a notary, passionate about wine-making, who has made changes in the vineyards to dramatically improve the quality of this wine. It is located in the city of Neac on one of the best clay-gravel and calcareous soils of the appellation, which produces dense, rich wines with a charming suppleness. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are carefully tended, hand-picked at full ripeness and partly aged in oak barrels, making a well-balanced, elegant, supple and fleshy wine with nice ripe plum fruit and well-balanced tannins.
